50 kHz Trajectory Streaming

September 2026

What is Trajectory Streaming?

With Trajectory Streaming, multi-axis position setpoints are streamed to the servo drives at sampling rates of up to 50 kHz. This enables extremely dense motion profiles and ultra-smooth processes.

How do we reach 50 kHz setpoints?

The position data is streamed to a FIFO buffer on the drives. The servo drives are synchronized via EtherCAT or Tria-Link. Each drive executes its own target positions in coordination with the other axes, resulting in a synchronized multi-axis motion.

Eliminate interpolation errors

The extreme density of the target data eliminates interpolation-related artifacts. This includes slope errors due to undersampled paths and line-to-line shifts between neighboring tool paths. As a result, the intended surface geometry is represented precisely.

PLC integration of Trajectory Streaming

We have recently started beta testing the integration of Trajectory Streaming into EtherCAT-based systems. More details are available in the TraSt EtherCAT Integration one-pager.

Freeform Motion for Stages

For stage applications, Trajectory Streaming provides a simple way to send externally calculated freeform motion profiles to the drives. This allows complex scan patterns, inspection paths, or process trajectories to be executed directly at drive level.
